2021 Skoda Octavia: Design

The fourth-generation Skoda Octavia was unveiled globally at the end of 2019, and the automaker has not changed much to the Indian-spec models. The styling of the new Octavia is consistent with the current design language of the Czech car manufacturer. This means that the four-headlight headlight layout of the previous model is gone forever, replaced by a more traditional layout. The changes do not stop there, because the overall design of the new Octavia is more stylish and modern than the models it replaces.

Skoda offers three standard color options for the new Octavia-lava blue, magic black and candy white, and two additional color options-bright silver and maple brown-reserved for Laurin and Klement (L&K) trim.

2021 Skoda Octavia: Interior and functions

In terms of interior, the cabin adopts a new layout, the instrument panel adopts a layered design, and the independent 10-inch touch screen infotainment screen and 10.25-inch digital instrument panel (virtual cockpit) occupy the center position. Another notable design change is the steering wheel to Skoda’s new double-spoke steering wheel with knurled wheels. In order to increase the attractiveness of Indian buyers, the Indian-spec Octavia adopted a beige-black color scheme instead of an all-black scheme to help enhance the sense of space in the cabin. The seats also use suede and leather upholstery, adding a sense of luxury to the cabin.

Skoda also equipped the top-spec Octavia L&K interior with two-zone climate control, connected car technology, digital assistant (named “Laura”), wireless smartphone charging, 12-speaker Canton sound system and ambient lighting system, etc., with memory Electric adjustable driver and passenger seats, keyless entry on all doors, front and rear parking sensors, etc. are provided. Safety features include 8 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, adaptive headlights and driver fatigue warning system, etc.

2021 Skoda Octavia: Powertrain

Powering the new Octavia is the only 2.0-liter four-cylinder TSI turbo gasoline engine that produces 190 horsepower and 320 Nm. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with a shift-by-wire shifter. Unlike its predecessor, which is also equipped with a 143-horsepower, 2.0-liter TDI engine, Skoda will not provide a diesel engine for the new Octavia, which is consistent with its decision to focus on gasoline.

2021 Skoda Octavia: Competitor

In the competition, the new Skoda Octavia is positioned in the field of executive cars. At present, it can only compete with Hyundai Elantra. This is because both Honda Civic with Toyota Corolla Production has been discontinued in the Indian market.
