Automobili Pininfarina, owned by Mahindra, plans to produce 150 Battista supercars, targeting the left-hand drive market, which uses Rimac powertrains. A few months ago, the supercar was still in the final stages of testing. Former Formula One and Formula One driver Nick Heidfeld played a key role in the development process. The all-electric Battista is the first internal model of Automobili Pininfarina. Its 1,900hp electric motor is expected to make it the most powerful Italian production car ever. At the same time, its claimed 0-100kph time of 1.9 seconds, if verified, will also make the hyper-EV one of the fastest speeding road cars ever.
Each of Battista’s 150 units will be individually handmade in the Pininfarina SpA studio in Turin, Italy. In the final stage of the test, the main focus is on the track and refinement and modification elements such as chassis settings, aerodynamics kit, torque vectoring and five selectable driving modes. Battista is currently developing two tire combinations. The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R is used as a high-performance tire for the track, combined with lightweight “Impulso” wheels.
Pininfarina aims to develop a series of five prototype cars by 2025, of which Battista will be the first batch. Following Battista, it is an all-electric luxury SUV that will debut in 2022.
