Saptarshi Mondal
Following its launch in late June, Skoda began delivering the 1.0-liter variant of Kushaq from mid-July. The European brand has now begun to deliver Kushaq 1.5 TSI, and has also released the latter’s fuel efficiency data for the manual and automatic versions claimed by ARAI.
- Kushaq 1.5 TSI manual provides 17.95 kmpl
- 1.5 TSI DSG automatically provides 17.71 kmpl
- 1.5-liter TSI engine uses active cylinder deactivation technology
Skoda Kushaq 1.5 TSI-ARAI certified fuel economy data announced
Skoda revealed that Kushaq is equipped with a 1.5-liter TSI EVO engine, the driving range of the manual transmission is 17.95 kmpl, and the automatic transmission is 17.71 kmpl. By the way, these numbers are even higher than ARAI’s claimed mileage of the smaller 1.0-liter engine. For your reference, the manual version of the 1.0-liter turbo gasoline engine is 17.88 kmpl and the automatic version is 15.78 kmpl.
Despite the larger displacement, the 1.5-liter engine still has some tricks to help it achieve such an excellent mileage. The first is obviously active cylinder deactivation technology-an advanced feature-automatically shuts down both cylinders when the engine load is low, thereby improving fuel efficiency. We drove Kushaq recently and can tell you that this feature works seamlessly, and you will never notice when the engine is switched from four-cylinder mode to two-cylinder mode or vice versa. The 1.5-liter variant of Kushaq is also available for test drive and delivery in all Skoda showrooms across the country.
