Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch Active 4 does not support blood glucose reading -Techweu

Samsung’s next big Unpacked event is … packed. Apart from the next-generation Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip smartphones, and perhaps the S21 FE, the company also plans to release two new smartwatch models in two sizes each instead of one.

We are talking about Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch Active 4. Both of these are rare but major strategic changes for Korean companies that have relied on their own Tizen OS for wearables, to run Wear OS by Google.

The problem with Tizen is that there are no third-party apps. This seems to have triggered Samsung to work with Google again. Hopefully, this cooperation will give WearOS smartwatches better battery life than is usually known.

The Galaxy Watch 4 is available in 42mm and 46mm sizes, and the Watch Active 4 is available in 40mm and 42mm models. The former is a “traditional watch design” and the latter is a “casual and simple design”.

Neither device supports the sometimes rumoured non-invasive blood glucose reading feature. This may or may not arrive at future Samsung wearables.
