We still don’t know if Samsung wants to announce the Galaxy Tab S8 tablet at the upcoming MWC or the S22 series. But the preparations for the launch have been going on for so long that all the important details have been leaked, which are summarized here: win the future.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra will be larger than most tablets with a large 14.6-inch Super AMOLED display. It will have a notch to house dual 12 MP cameras (wide and ultrawide) while keeping the bezels around the display very thin. Regardless, the display will have a resolution of 2,960 x 1,848 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and a maximum brightness of 420 nits.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra
The Galaxy Tab S8+ will just be big, not huge, with a 12.7-inch display. No notch here. The Super AMOLED panel will also run at 120 Hz with a resolution of 2,800 x 1,752 pixels. The displays on all three models will support S Pen input and enjoy Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
The smallest of the three, the Galaxy Tab S8, is still quite large, with an 11-inch display—this time an LTPS LCD. Like its sibling (and the Tab S7 before it), it will also offer a 120 Hz refresh rate. The LCD panel is even brighter at 500 nits.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+
All three Tab S8 models will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset running Android 12 and Samsung UI 4.1. The standard configuration will have 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, the S8 and S8+ will get a 256 GB storage option, and the Ultra will top out at 16/512 GB. All three will have a microSD slot.
A USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port on the tablet will support DeX, and wireless DeX will also be available. Other connectivity features include optional 5G, Wi-Fi 6 (ax), Bluetooth 5.2, ANT+ and positioning systems (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou).
The USB-C port will also be used for charging. The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra will have the largest battery, and also the heaviest, at 11,200 mAh and 728g. The S8+ will have a 10,090 mAh battery and weigh 567 grams, while the S8 will have an 8,000 mAh battery and weigh 507 grams.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S8
All three tablets will feature quad speakers (with Dolby Atmos), an in-display fingerprint reader, and dual rear cameras (13 MP main and 6 MP ultra-wide). The S Pen stylus will have several magnetic attachment points.
You can check out the detailed pricing information that was leaked a few days ago. In short, the Galaxy Tab S8 starts at €680-700, the S8+ starts at €880-900, and the Tab S8 Ultra starts at at least €1,040-1,060. This is for Wi-Fi only tablets with basic storage. Beyond that, getting 5G will cost 150-160 euros.
