2021 Porsche Macan facelift: engine update

The facelift has brought adjustments to the engine. The standard Macan, S and GTS are now more powerful than before (Turbo has been discontinued). The entry-level Macan retains its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, but the power has been increased from 245 horsepower to 265 horsepower, while Macan S has replaced its 3.0-liter V6 engine with a 2.9-liter V6 engine, which can output more than 26 at 380 horsepower. Horsepower – the same as the outgoing Macan GTS. Both have received a slight torque boost, thus reducing the 0-100kph sprint time.

At the same time, the 2.9-liter V6 engine of the Macan GTS has been tuned to almost match the output of the old Macan Turbo, with a power of 440 horsepower and 549 Nm. Porsche says that it can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, with a top speed of 272 km/h.

As before, the focus of GTS is on dynamic performance, so it obtains torque vectoring, 10mm suspension drop and stiffer air springs in pursuit of faster steering response and higher stability.

2021 Porsche Macan facelift: exterior and interior changes

The updated Macan has received subtle styling changes throughout the series, including a reshaped front grille, an improved rear diffuser, new standard LED headlights and larger wheels (seven new designs available), The range is from 19 to 21 inches.

The GTS variant follows Porsche’s tradition, receiving a series of black decorative elements and a customized rear diffuser.

However, the internal visual updates are the most obvious. The redesigned center console and control stack align Macan with its larger brother Cayenne and the updated Panamera fastback.

The most obvious change is the removal of the physical buttons and switches of the length of the center console on both sides of the gear selector. They have been replaced by touch-sensitive panels with illuminated tactile icons, which, together with a smaller gear selector, make the settings cleaner and tidier.

The 10.9-inch infotainment display still exists. Although it has not been confirmed, it is expected to be upgraded to Porsche’s sixth-generation infotainment software platform, while the Macan is still sold in its current form.

Elsewhere, a series of new personalization options “significantly expand the design freedom of SUVs.” Seat stitching can now be specified in a series of bright colors, and the analog clock in the center of the dashboard, which was previously part of the optional Sport Chrono package, is now standard on all models.
