The Urbanaut concept car is 4.46 meters long and emphasizes spaciousness and sustainability. Participants of the 2021 Digital Life Design Conference were invited to experience the brand’s new “Mini Moments” method for the interior design of autonomous vehicles.

The interior can be configured in one of the following three modes: Chill, which is designed to imitate the restroom style of stationary use; Wanderlust, which is used for autonomous driving and normal driving situations; and Vibe, which folds the windshield and projects the graphic equalizer display to The wheels come up to “blur the boundary between the outside and the inside.”

Mini said that the flexible nature of the interior means that it can be used as an “urban space when people are stationary”, as well as an electric urban transportation solution.

The minimalist design of the concept implies Mini’s desire for sustainable development. Urbanaut reduces the number of components and materials, while adopting a dual-purpose instrument panel with sofa bed and replaceable seat covers. There is no leather and chrome plating at all, just like all next-generation mass-produced Mini models.

Although Urbanaut has no confirmed production intentions, the concept is drivable and can preview the expectations of all future Mini models, including the next three-door hatchback to be launched in 2023.

For India, Mini recently launched an updated hatchback series, including Top JCW version.
