  • Access to powerful chip technology and an active digital ecosystem
  • SIGMA platform can be used for electric and hybrid power systems

MG One: design and styling

MG One has launched two versions, a fashion version and a sports version, which are further characterized by two different paint tones-Bubble Orange and Wilderness Green. Both versions of MG One use a 3D air intake grille, but the radial pattern on Fashionable gives it an aggressive appearance, while Sporty uses a more refined and relatively subtle grille design.

Similarly, the front bumpers of the two MG One versions are also different in design. Sharp LED headlights with integrated LED DRL further add some features to the front panel of the SUV. The rear of the MG One uses a sloping roofline to give it a coupe-like silhouette. The unique pattern on the D-pillar and the chrome-plated frame above the window line are also prominent in the outline. The silver roof rails, obvious rear hips and plastic coatings on and on both sides of the wheel arches give it muscle and strong appeal.

The other simple rear end of the MG One features a black spoiler with cutouts. It is also equipped with a pair of stylish LED taillights, a license plate groove mounted on the tailgate, and some plastic cladding on the rear bumper. The two versions of MG One also have a unique and stylish alloy wheel design. However, MG has not revealed any images inside One.

MG One: Platform and Technology

As mentioned earlier, MG One is based on the brand’s new SIGMA architecture. MG claims that this new architecture aims to optimize the internal space with an efficiency of up to 70%. The SIGMA architecture reduces the mechanical space of the vehicle to a minimum, thereby helping to balance the external shape and internal space.

The SIGMA architecture is an all-in-one modular platform, which means it can support a variety of power systems, including a series of all-electric and hybrid power systems, as well as conventional internal combustion engines. The platform is also highly adaptable and can be used to create a variety of body styles, such as hatchbacks, sports cars, off-road vehicles, SUVs, etc.

Although MG has not disclosed the functions that the interior or will provide, the company said that this SUV has “advanced electric architecture”, “active digital ecosystem” and “hard-core software technology” as well as powerful chip technology. All this just implies that One can be loaded into the gills with the latest features: from semi-autonomous technology to the latest infotainment and connected car technology.

According to the leaked documents, MG One may be equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine with a 6-speed manual or dual-clutch automatic transmission. The engine may produce approximately 170-180 horsepower and 250-260 Nm of torque. MG One will go on sale globally at the end of this year, but it is unlikely to enter India.
