Jeep Commander Interior: What did the trailer reveal?
At first glance, the dashboard and other interiors of the three-row commander look very similar to Compass faceliftHowever, a closer look will reveal that this more advanced SUV uses a unique accent and different materials. For example, Commander uses suede trim on the dashboard, while the dashboard on Compass is made of leather. The seats are wrapped in better-quality brown leather and suede upholstery with a cross-stitch pattern. In addition, the lower center console of the Commander is also decorated with rose gold, and “Jeep 1941” is embossed on the front armrest, which is a reference to the year when the first Jeep Willys MB was launched.
The most important highlight of the commander is obviously its second and third rows of seats. The trailer reveals that the second row of seats are separated at a ratio of 60:40 to allow access to the third row of seats. Although it is difficult to comment on the trailer for the space, we can confirm that the third-row passengers will have conveniences such as blower speed adjustment and charging ports.
In addition, although this trailer only provides us with the interior of the middle row of bench seats, it is expected that the Jeep will also provide captain seats in some variants.
Jeep Commander: Features and Equipment
It is fair to say that the commander will inherit most of the equipment list from the compass. The trailer has given us a glimpse of the 10.5-inch digital driver display and 10.1-inch floating touch screen infotainment system. We can also see functions such as audio control, cruise control, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and dual-zone climate control installed on the steering wheel.
In terms of safety, Commander may be equipped with multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, electric parking brakes, and ESC. Jeep can also add some ADAS functions, such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and automatic emergency braking.
Jeep Commander: Engine and powertrain options
Under the hood, the Jeep Commander, which will be launched first in South America, will be equipped with a 1.3-liter turbo gasoline engine that also serves Compass in some international markets.
For India, Jeep Meridian will be equipped with the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder Multijet diesel engine to power Compass. However, the unit on the commander will be more powerful than the one on the compass. Although Jeep has not officially confirmed the output data, it may produce 200 horsepower (higher than the 170 horsepower of the compass). The engine will only be used with a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission.In addition, as we recently reported, Jeep is also expected to provide commanders with 48V mild hybrid technology Equipped with BSG (Belt Driven Starter Generator) to control emissions and fuel economy.
Jeep Commander: India launch and competition inspection
The commander will be called Jeep Meridian in India. Jeep is expected to start mass production of Meridian in India in April next year, and its release time may be set for mid-2022. The price of this SUV is expected to be around 3.5 million rupees.It will be comparable to similar Ford Endeavour, MG Gloucester, Toyota Fortune, Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, And the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq TSI.
