Hyundai Elantra N debuts with a 276 horsepower engine and a speed of 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds

This modern The Elantra N has been out a long time ago, and now, the South Korean automaker has finally unveiled a comprehensive performance version of the Elantra on a global scale.This Hyundai Elantra N shares a lot of foundation with Hyundai i30 N hot-hatch, and is even called i30 N sedan in some markets such as Australia.The cars we see here are based on the latest Seventh Generation Elantra, Has not yet been marketed in India.

Hyundai Elantra N: Engine and performance

This is a performance car, let’s start with what’s under the hood.Hyundai Elantra N is powered by a familiar 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, which is also suitable for other N-performance cars, such as i30 N with KonaOn the Elantra N, this engine has a large 5 mm turbine wheel that can output 276 horsepower and 392 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with an 8-speed wet dual-clutch transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission to drive the front wheels.

Hyundai Elantra N uses an integrated drive axle inspired by WRC, which helps reduce weight.

Hyundai has very interesting names for the drive modes on Elantra N – N Grin Shift, N Power Shift and N Track Sense Shift-just like in other N models with DCT. In the N Grin Shift mode and start control, the boost pressure from the engine increases, resulting in a power output of up to 285hp, which makes the Elantra N’s 0-100 kph sprint time of 5.3 seconds. It is also equipped with an electronic limited slip differential, which is very interestingly called “N Corner Carving Different” in modern times.

Hyundai utilizes its WRC expertise and Elantra N is equipped with an integrated drive axle inspired by WRC that integrates drive shafts, hubs and bearings to help reduce weight by 1.7 kg and improve lateral grip. In order to further improve performance, Elantra N gets an electronically adjustable suspension. It works with dual composite trailing arm bushings to optimize driving and handling balance while minimizing NVH levels.

Hyundai Elantra N has an N sound equalizer function, which can imitate the sound of a TCR racing car.

Braking performance comes from 360 mm brake discs on all four corners and Hyundai’s own high-friction material pads, which, according to the car manufacturer, have proven to be very durable. To help cool the brakes, Hyundai even designed a cooling duct with a brake air guide structure on the front dashboard. Elantra N is also equipped with a four-point support ring and a rear rigid rod to increase structural rigidity.

One of the coolest party tricks of Elantra N is its N Sound Equalizer function, which can artificially input engine sound into the cabin and even imitate the sound of a TCR racing car. In fact, it provides a lot of adjustability, and the driver can adjust the whine, throat, and bass through the equalizer. The car uses a variable exhaust system, which will burst and burst like other modern N models.

The new generation of Elantra already has a wedge-shaped posture and avant-garde, sharp styling, which means that even modern cars do not have to make fundamental changes to the mature N models. The interior of the Elantra N is mostly similar to a standard sedan, but there are few key changes. The biggest update is the N model specific steering wheel with installed controls and an updated infotainment system that displays performance-specific content such as oil and coolant temperature and torque and turbine pressure. The dashboard also has sporty graphics, and there is even a dedicated lap timer. The seat has also been upgraded with reinforced cushions. Customers can also choose to sit on a bucket seat 10 mm lower.

Hyundai N Performance: India launch plan

Currently, Hyundai has no plans to bring its mature N-performance models to India in the short term.However, as we reported earlier, Hyundai will Debut of its N Performance brand in India Use a few N Line models first.
