Hyundai Motor India has launched the 10 millionth Indian-made car, the Alcazar SUV, from its manufacturing plant in Sriperumbudur near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. • Hyundai achieves production milestone in 273 months
  • Hyundai Alcazar is the 100,000th car to roll off the assembly line

From the start of production of the first car to the launch of today’s landmark 100,000th car, Hyundai Motor India has spent a full 273 months or less than 23 years to achieve this goal. The automaker launched its 9 millionth car in 2019, and the 8 millionth model rolled off the assembly line in 2018.

On May 6, 1996, Hyundai Motor India officials laid the foundation stone at the Irungattukkottai manufacturing plant in Sriperumbudur, and its first car, the Santro, rolled off the assembly line in 1998. The automaker’s second factory in Chennai was completed in 2008. The installed capacity of these two plants is 7,50,000 units per year.

India’s manufacturing export leader
