Production specifications Citroen C3 Before launching in India in the first half of 2022, it has been unveiled globally today. C3 is the first of the following three models CitroenThe C-cubed program is specially developed for emerging markets such as India and South America. C3 will be locally produced in India, with a localization rate of over 90%.

  • Developed and designed to cater to Indian tastes
  • Will be a pure gasoline model, expected to be equipped with a 1.2-liter turbo gasoline engine
  • Will be launched in the first half of 2022

Citroen C3: exterior design

First, although C3 has its crossover clues, Citroen is avoiding calling C3 a compact SUV. Citroen CEO Vincent Kobe described the model as a “hatchback with twists.” Part of the reason is that Citroen has a more upright compact SUV in its Indian product line, which is expected to follow the C3.

Best classified as a crossover hatchback, the 3.98-meter C3 has high ground clearance, high hood and elevated driving position, which is indeed attractive. The shape is a typical Citroen-weird and cool. The front panel uses a pair of split LED headlights, and Citroen’s double-slat grille connects the two units. The Citroen logo is subtly integrated into the grille itself and seamlessly integrated with the LED daytime running lights in the headlight group.

Thick black cladding is used around the C3 to further highlight the appeal of the SUV. It also uses orange trim on the front bumper and side cladding, blackened pillars and roof rails, and two-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels. At the back, the new C3 has a relatively upright tailgate with rectangular taillights and two-tone bumpers at both ends. Citroen will also allow customers to customize the two-tone color options on the C3. Overall, the C3 does look like the smaller brother of the C5 Aircross already on sale in India.

Citroen C3: Interior and features

Citroen’s quirky design theme is also continued inside, with bright orange panels running across the width of the dashboard. The effect of the dimples on the panel is interesting, as are the complicated-looking air conditioners. In the center of the dashboard is a 10-inch touch screen infotainment system that will integrate Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There is also a beautiful smartphone stand next to the screen. Like the appearance, the color of the instrument panel and seat fabrics can also be customized.

The photo shows a thick three-spoke steering and a digital instrument panel, but on the other hand, the internal adjustment of the rear-view mirrors, manual air-conditioning control and integrated front seats with integrated headrests also indicate where savings can be made cost. Only when we see C3 in the metal can we determine the quality of the plastic.

Although the exact size has not yet been revealed, Citroen’s news information mentions “market-leading comfort and roominess”. It is worth noting that the support of the rear seats and the two large (although fixed) head restraints indicate that it is designed for two passengers. Without the rear center armrest, one quirk visible in the picture is the position of the rear power window button on the center console between the front seats.

Citroen C3: Platform and Engine

Citroen C3 is based on the CMP modular platform, which will support other vehicles, including sister brand Jeep SUVs under 4 meters. The platform has been heavily localized for India, and more than 90% of the components are sourced locally. Citroen is expected to actively position C3 in its market segments.

Although Citroen has not disclosed the details of the powertrain, it is expected that the C3 will be powered by India’s 1.2-liter turbo gasoline engine. No diesel engines will be provided. Transmission options will include 5-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Citroen C3: release schedule and competitors

The Citroen C3 will be produced at the Thiruvallur plant in Chennai, and mass production is scheduled to start in December this year. The price of C3 will be announced in the first half of 2022. Before the launch of C3, Citroen will expand its dealer network in India, which is currently limited to La Maison flagship stores in selected cities, as well as a dedicated online sales platform.

Citroen has been tight-lipped about pricing, but emphasized that it will be very competitive compared to other hatchbacks. Therefore, it is expected to be related to something like Maruti Suzuki Ignatius,Upcoming Tata Punch And to some extent, higher-level cars such as Maruti Suzuki Barney Road as well as.
