  • The new date will be announced later this year

Taking into account the COVID-19 situation and the alignment of the event with the OICA global auto show calendar, the new date for the 2022 Auto Expo auto show will be determined later this year.

SIAM stated that the postponement of the biennial exhibition is to ensure the safety of exhibitors, visitors and all stakeholders participating in the Expo. The top industry body stated: “It is in this context that the Indian automotive industry and SIAM recognize that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and concerns about the possible third wave of epidemics, there are inherent risks in organizing an auto expo.”

“There is uncertainty as to how COVID-19 will develop in the next few months. At the same time, it takes the best year to prepare for the auto expo. In addition, the auto expo is like a celebration of the Indian auto industry. We look forward to not worrying about the spread of infection. In the case of receiving the most people,” it added.

SIAM further stated that the possibility of COVID-19 spreading in B2C exhibitions like Auto Expo is very high because it is visited by a large number of people and it is difficult to maintain social distance. Therefore, it decided to postpone the Auto Expo temporarily.
