Audi e-tron: design and function
e-tron follows typical Audi design cues. At the front, there is a large grille with sharp-cut LED headlights on both sides. Although the profile of the standard SUV is more upright, the e-tron Sportback is characterized by the roofline slopes downwards behind the B-pillar and ends with a sharply inclined hatch. At the rear end, both models have a full-width light bar connected to the LED taillights.
Internally, the German brand’s latest design language means that the dual “MMI touch” system occupies a central position, with a 10.1-inch touch screen on the top for infotainment and an 8.8-inch touch screen on the bottom for climate control and other functions. Audi’s “virtual cockpit” digital instrument panel is also available.
Although the equipment list for Indian-spec models has not yet been announced, the e-tron for the international market has received material benefits such as matrix LED headlights, cruise control, electric tailgate, panoramic sunroof, power adjustable steering wheel and leather interior. It is worth noting that you can also specify the camera to replace the rearview mirror on the global version of the e-tron.
Audi e-tron: Powertrain
Globally, e-tron provides a variety of power systems. The entry-level 50 quattro has a power of 312 horsepower, 540 Nm, and is equipped with a 71.2 kWh battery pack.
The 55 quattro is suitable for 360 horsepower and 561 Nm in standard drive mode, but it also has a “supercharge” function that can boost the output to 408 horsepower and 664 Nm for rapid acceleration. At the same time, the powerful e-tron S outputs 435hp, 808Nm and 503hp, 973Nm in conventional and “supercharged” drive modes, respectively. Both e-tron’s higher power models are equipped with a 95kWh battery pack.
According to the power system and driving conditions, the range of Audi’s EV in the European WLTP driving cycle is between 282 kilometers and 441 kilometers. A larger capacity e-tron battery can be charged from 0-80% in 8.5 hours with an 11kW AC charger, or a DC fast charger with a rated power of 150kW can be used in just 30 minutes.
Audi e-tron: Appraisal
As a fully imported, Audi SUV will be very expensive. The company is expected to launch the e-tron at a price point of 120 crore rupees (estimated in the former showroom in India), while the price of Sportback is slightly premium. Then, e-tron will be positioned in the field of Mercedes EQC and Jaguar I-Pace, both of which cost more than 10 million yuan.
